Bleeding Edge Raven Doll

Welcome To The World Of Begoth Bleeding Edge Dolls

Are you a Gothic Doll collector? If you haven't been introduced to Bleeding Edge dolls then you are missing out on some of the most beautiful and exquisite Gothic / Medieval collectible dolls on the market. Bleeding Edge dolls have pale skin, elaborate makeup and hairstyles, ornate elegant fashions, and intricate details. They were first created by the Bleeding Edge & Begoths company and toy artist Steve Varner in 2003 and they quickly became a hit with the growing troupe of Gothic and Horror doll collectors. His son Stefan came up with the idea. Steve had already collaborated on the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and done some work for Lara Croft and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, among others. He was looking for a new and unique toy idea and these lovely dark Gothic dolls appealed to him instantly.

The doll pictured is Raven Dragonfire. Raven is my favorite Bleeding Edge doll. She is a 12" vinyl doll from Series 1 and was first available in 2003. She's got a full head of rooted black and purple hair, and painted facial features. Her lips, nose and ears are pierced. I like her chunky Doc Martin style shoes too. She's a beautiful Gothic doll. Not too scary.

12 Inch Fashion Doll Series and 7 Inch Figurines

The Varner dolls come in 2 different sizes, 7 inch plastic figurines, and 12 inch vinyl dolls. The 12 inch dolls are the ones I collect. There are 8 series, or lines, so far, with several dolls in each. Below you will find a few samples from each line and a bit of their personality or history. They are all unique and have a Gothic theme to appeal to alternative collectors.

Bleeding Edge dolls do not have joints, which is a disappointment. Their knees bend with a click like older Barbie dolls but there is no articulation at the wrists, elbows, ankles, or torso. What they lack in poseability, they make up for in the makeup and costumes. The fashions are very nicely detailed and well made, and the painted on facial features are delicate and intricate.  Don't be surprised to see a fashion you have worn or a hairstyle you once had. These dolls are for the nonconformist in all of us!
