Clawdeen Wolf Ghouls Rule Monster High Doll

Clawdeen Wolf from the Ghouls Rule Monster High line is one doll that I’ve picked up and put down dozens of times in the store. I finally couldn’t resist because she was on sale, and also because since she was released in July of 2012, I knew she would be getting scarce soon. Clawdeen Wolf is one of my favorite Monster High characters and The Ghouls Rule Dolls are dressed in elaborate costumes to pay tribute to their monster heritage and celebrate Halloween. Clawdeen, along with Frankie Stein, Cleo de Nile, Draculaura, and Abbey Bominable appeared in the TV special called Ghouls Rule.

The main features I like about the Clawdeen Wolf Ghouls Rule Monster High Doll are the big puffs of wolf fur on the costume at her ankles and wrists; and her fuzzy purple spotted head with long braided purple hair down the middle. Very trendy looking and different from the traditional Clawdeen Wolf character dolls. And I also found some other Clawdeen Wolf fashion packs that looked like they would coordinate nicely with her coloring. So I broke down and bought my Clawdeen Wolf Ghouls Rule Doll.

Here’s the box, front and back with the story blurb. The box was super easy to open, and Clawdeen came out flawlessly, very little plastic cutting and no twists at all. Love that.

Right away I wanted to get a look at her with her Mardi Gras style mask up to her face and guess what happened when I tried to lift it up? Her arm fell off! No problem I thought, these dolls are made to snap apart. But then I couldn’t find the upper part of her arm to click it back into because the big furry sleeve that I originally liked so much was too hard to fold back.

So I figured I’ll deal with the arm malfunction in a minute. Ghouls Rule Clawdeen Wolf stands up okay as you can see. Not as easily as the other Monster High dolls because of the thin heels on her shoes, but after a bit of balancing I was able to get her to pose. So I started undressing her to restore her arm to its proper place and to check out her outfit. The leg fur comes off in separate pieces, and she’s got plastic ankle bands that match her belt and bodice accessories. Trouble is you can barely see them behind all the fur.

Speaking of fur, as I was doing all this she was losing it like crazy. Good grief Clawdeen, you’re a pedigreed wolfette and you’re shedding more than my 130 pound German Shepherd Dog mix.

As I took her jumpsuit off, the other arm fell out. Geez. Guess I should have just planned on finding her arms inside the jumpsuit to begin with. I expected to take them off to get the outfit back on but they seem to be exceptionally loose right away.

It’s a really cute jumpsuit. I adore the colors and it’s well made. The fabric has a Dolce Gabanna-esque print. The arm fur is sewn onto the outfit unlike the leg pieces, and the whole thing slides off easily due to the long Velcro closure in the back. And there are is a nice gold halter type upper body accessory and belt.

Once I got her outfit off, and re-attached her arms, I was able to finagle her hand so she could hold the mask up to her face. It was extremely difficult though and I almost gave up. I doubt a kid would be able to do it. You wouldn’t want her wearing her mask and no clothes anyway.

And some close ups of her hair and makeup. The lavender lips and hair are stunning, and there’s something about the spots on the sides of her purple fuzzy head that howls to me. It’s just so…ghoulish. The eyeshadow and glitter on her face is very dramatic and ties in well with the hair and costume. And her long hair is soft and bouncy.

Next I attempted to put her outfit back on, and popped off her hands. Once I got the outfit on I had to carefully pull back the sleeve fur to put her hands back in their rightful place.

Then I put her on her stand. Can you see how her legs are bent? Of course you can. It’s because the clamp on the stand doesn't stay in place. It slides down the shaft every time I try to stand her up. Not a very becoming pose for my dearest wolfling. Oops, then her arm fell off again. Ghouls Rule Clawdeen, I love the way you look but you’re killing my review, and my patience.

In the end my Ghouls Rule Clawdeen Wolf is destined to sit on the sofa beside her Monster High ghoul sisters. I certainly can’t put her up there on the stand in that silly position. She’s still beautiful, and I still love her just because she’s so wild and wonderful. The other fashions I picked up for her when she was purchased will have to go on another Clawdeen, I just don’t have the patience to deal with her loose arms again.
