Dollhouse Paint And Exterior Trim Choices

Blythes Dollhouse With PrimerSomeone should have had a camera handy and filmed me getting the huge house out of the SUV.  But then if someone else was around I would have asked them to help me, not take pictures.  It was all me. I unloaded the heavy beast and scooted it all the way through the house to the back porch.  I’ve decided to paint the exterior first and then move it inside and start working on the interior.

The exterior paint decision has been a fiasco.  First I bought primer.  Of course I looked at the latex based can but picked up the oil based can.  As I was painting I thought it felt a little different but I didn’t pay too much attention.  Cleaning the brushes was when I realized my mistake.  But I went ahead with a latex top coat of paint and it seemed to work out fine.

Because I decided to go with a semi – gothic, whimsically haunted theme,  I wanted to paint the walls slate blue with green trim and shutters.  Once I started painting I didn’t like the shade of blue or the green, or even the shutters.  So I regrouped and took off the shutters and the hideous plexiglass porch.  That was a bear to remove.  I don’t know what kind of glue the original crafter had but I need some of it for my other projects.  It took a lot of sanding to remove it.

I had tons of pictures but I accidentally deleted them from my camera before downloading.  It’s just as well, I don’t need a reminder of my mistakes anyway.
