Disney Pixar Brave - Princess Merida

Princess Merida is a 16 year old impetuous and feisty girl living in Scotland in the 10th century. Daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor, she is at the age to begin receiving suitors. Her mother has high expectations of molding her into a perfect princess and finding a husband for her daughter. But Merida has other plans. She is determined to control her own destiny. She's a skilled archer and athlete and wants to be free to live her own dreams.

King Fergus organizes a competition for all the eligible young men in the kingdom to vie for the hand of his beautiful young daughter. They come and one by one blunder, fail, and goof up at the games. Princess Merida then announces she will compete for her own hand and hits every target perfectly. The movie follows what happens next as Merida brings a curse to her kingdom and has to break the spell herself.

Here are some pictures of one of my Princess Merida dolls.  She is the 17" Disney Store talking doll.  This Merida has 9 points of articulation - neck, shoulders, elbows, hips and knees.  Not the best mobility but certainly enough for a play doll. Her dress is glittery aqua fabric and she has a long cape.  Merida's hair is thick and curly and her face captures the essence of the character in the movie.  Love the freckles. Unfortunately my doll's talking mechanism is broken, she keeps repeating the same single syllable, but I didn't want to return her. The voice wasn't what I wanted her for anyway, I liked her face and size.

• Her favorite sport is archery, and of course her favorite weapon is a bow and arrow.
• Her beloved horse is named Angus.
• She dislikes having to follow tradition.

•  Merida is the 1st female to be the main characer in a Pixar movie.
