Setting Up Blythes Bedroom

Blythes Dollhouse Bedroom

I've decided to go ahead and set up some of the dollhouse rooms despite the walls and floors being unfinished.  It's taking a really long time to get them done due to lack of funds and time.  It's a little like remodeling your house, you don't realize what's underneath or involved until you get into it.  I'm still working on the kitchen walls, for 2 months, and will show you that later.  But I'm collecting a little stash of furniture and decorations that I can't wait to play with so I'm going to set things up anyway.

Above is a pic of Blythe sitting in her room.  She lives right above the kitchen.  So far she's got a nice metal frame bed and some pillows and a blanket, a rug, a yellow dresser, art frame for the wall, and cute little snow globe.  I need to print out something cool to put in the frame, which is a Christmas ornament by the way.  The snow globe is also an ornament.  I was in Hobby Lobby the other day and they had all their Christmas decorations 40% off.  Christmas in August, good grief.  Anyway because I'm always on the lookout for dolly stuff I scooped them up and brought them home.  The dresser I think is a little jewelry box.  I got it from eBay. Her bed also was an eBay purchase.  Blythe's bedroom is sparse but will fill up quickly I'm sure.

The curtains in my "real " room are closed for the sake of the background lighting in the picture.  When they are open she has a view of the pool and back yard.  At least Blythe has a place to rest, albeit in unfinished quarters.

Dollhouse Chandelier Ornament

Above is Madeline Hatter sitting on the upper floor.  It will eventually be Peteena's room.  I got the chandelier Christmas ornament at Hobby Lobby too.  I pinned it up temporarily in the roof peak to see if it looked right.  It's way too big. What a shame, it's really cool.  Maybe I'll take out the center "crystal" and see if it fits better.  If so I'll  need to get another one because there are 2 roof peaks.  Note again that the walls are not finished.  I haven't even stripped out the electrical tape in here.  Ugly.

Dollhouse Kitchen Wall

And lastly here's the aforementioned kitchen wall.  It's sanded and ready to paint except I need to re-glue a little section in the top right corner that popped up.  Compare it to the wall in Blythe's room above and you can see what it looked like before.  Once I get these walls painted this room will finish up quickly.  I think I may need real wall paint instead of craft paint for the walls.  Maybe there's heavy duty craft paint or artist paint that will cover them.  I'm pretty sure I have everything I need in the way of appliances and furniture for the kitchen.  And I've amassed quite a collection of little doll pots, pans, and food.  It's going to be cute.

Oh and see my new Dremel MultiMax sander.  I HAD to have it to work on the dollhouse.  It's a great tool.  I'll show you some of the steps when I write about the kitchen.

I've gone ahead and put the furnishing that I have so far in Blythe's bedroom. The walls look awful but I'll be wallpapering or sanding very soon.
